When I visited Kuala Lumpur for work recently, my colleagues recommended Tiong Hokkien Mee as it was popular with locals compared to damansara uptown which is more popular with tourists.
🦐 Hokkien mee
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Yellow noodles stir fried in sweet and savoury black sauce. The noodles contained a few prawns, some vegetables and a lot of lard pieces! Compared to Damansara Uptown Hokkien Mee, it was on the drier side.
🥚 Char kway teow with raw egg
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Similar to moonlight horfun in Singapore but with kway teow. The kway teow was fried to perfection and the raw egg just added to the sinfulness of the dish!
🍜 Lor Mee
Rating⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
White version that is not found commonly in Singapore. It tastes less garlicky and salty, akin to a thick egg soup. My colleague suggested adding vinegar if I prefer it more sour and adding a dash of vinegar made it taste more like the black version.
🍲 Lala soup
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The lala soup was probably the MVP of the night! I could taste the wok hei and the soup was super gingery, perfect for a cold and rainy day.
🥬 Stir fried kai lan
Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐
Fried with garlic and tasted quite clean. The vegetables were fried just nice and was still crunchy and not too raw.
💰 Prices start from MYR 14 (SGD 4) for a single portion of noodles and MYR 13 (SGD 3.70) for the vegetables.
👍 Definitely a place to visit when you are in the Petaling Jaya area in Kuala Lumpur!
