some tips on getting through a levels ~~

hi zesties 🍋🍋 i just graduated from jc and got 90rp for a levels!! still relatively new at posting but thought i would come on here to share some of my tips that i wish someone would have told me back then 🙂🙂 (btw my combi was bcme!!)

1) keep up w your lectures and tutorials!! 👩🏻‍💻👩🏻‍💻

i’m pretty sure every senior must have told you this at the start of jc but rlly this is super impt — once you lose track of your lecture progress it’s very easy for it to snowball and by the time you know it, you have hours of lectures to catch up on… 😰😰 + by then you’ll be more focused on finishing the lectures and not so much understanding them, so it’s really key to stay on task 📝 personally i kept a weekly checklist to make sure that i clear all my lectures and tutorials by the end of the week

2) consults consults consults 🫠🫠

consults may seem super intimidating to many of you, but trust me when i say that it really really helps. i used to be afraid of going for consults partly because i was worried i wouldn’t be able to answer any question the teacher throws at me during the session + i didn’t really have enough qns to last a whole one hour consult 😬😬 but after gg for consults more consistently nearing a levels it fr helped me TREMENDOUSLY && getting one-on-one time with the teacher also was a great source of motivation 💪🏼💪🏼 for me as you could really see them trying their upmost best to support you academically and emotionally as well 🫶🏼🫶🏼 of course, if you still feel afraid of going for consults a good alternative would just be asking your teachers qns after class — helps a lot as well as you can clear up any confusions immediately instead of letting it snowball 👍🏼👍🏼

3) go at your own pace 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️

i think this is smth i rlly wished someone would have told me back then ~~ in jc i was super self conscious about the way i studied and always compared myself to others like i would be stressed if someone had started revising and I hadn’t or if someone had started on their tys and i hadn’t 😥😥 but coming out from it i think it really put a lot of unnecessary stress on myself and i truly realised that everyone has different studying methods and you don’t need to always be comparing yourselves with others ❌❌ just DO YOU and go at your own pace bcos always rmb that you know YOURSELF best 👍🏼👍🏼

4) always rmb to take time off 😌😌

this is SUPER IMPT, kind of related to the previous point on not succumbing to peer pressure but really, pls don’t feel the need to study 18 hours a day just because all your friends are doing so!! 😖😖 as long as you plan out your time well and get a decent amount of revision done each day (eg. 7h/day during study break) you’re fine,, in fact studying 18h/day will inevitably lead to burn out and that’s really not healthy both physically and mentally (you need your rest!!) 🤒🤒 i know a lot of friends who deleted social media and netflix and tiktok during the last 5 months to a levels but i didn’t bcos they were my methods of de-stressing in between study sessions 🧘‍♀️🧘‍♀️ and im pretty thankful i did not follow what others did, truly don’t think i would have made it thru a levels without giving myself ample time to rest ~~ so yes please rmb to set aside a few hours to rest while studying for exams/a levels and don’t ever feel peer pressured to do anyt just because your friends are doing so — again, as long as you’re managing your time well, it’s alright to continue watching youtube and instagram in between/after your study sessions 😌😌

but yes all in all, remember to take care of yourselves while in jc ❤️❤️ i know j2 will be hard and exhausting and there’ll be countless times where you feel like giving up but I BELIEVE IN YOU AND YOU GOT THIS 💪🏼💪🏼 rmb that you always have your friends, family and teachers to turn to if you ever need any help 🥰🥰

if you guys would like me to share some tips specific to certain subjects, do lmk as well ☺️☺️ here’s one on GP TIPS + CHEM TIPS if you haven’t checked it out 🤭🤭
