Shin Udon

This small eatery has gone viral for its mochi texture udon. Located a ten minute stroll away from the main Shinjuku shopping street, I went around 2pm+ to get a queue number only to find out the wait time was 6-8 hours.

Simply scan the QR code and you can check your queue status. However as it was a virtual queue, I decided to just play by ear and went on with my activities.

Suddenly at the 4th hour mark, I realised the queue suddenly accelerated and it was just another 15 mins wait. Thus I decided to head towards Shinjuku and very quickly it was my turn.

Upon arrival, I had to join the queue to wait for my table. There were many who tried to walk in around 8pm but the machine queue was closed.

As the store was small, even if the app shows it is your turn, you still have to queue.

The udon was delicious, and definitely try the tempura. However for such a long wait, I personally will do not do it again.

Tip to beat the queue:

Go early, if possible at 9am to get your queue number.
