I’ve had psoriatic arthritis since 13 and I’ve had my fair share of immune suppressants. My full diagnosis is chronic severe psoriatic arthritis (started as juvenile idiopathic arthritis). These are a few of the medications I’ve been prescribed and my rankings of them. These are based off my excellent if you had a different one let’s talk about it!

Otezla: 7/10

It just required too much attention daily pills aren’t for me. Even when I took them daily I didn’t feel like it was helping that much but I wasn’t consistent and the side effects were not bad.

Methotrexate: 6/10

This medication makes you feel terrible and there are at least 3 other medications I took to deal with the side effects. Pills were easier than the shot as far as convenience but the feeling was still bad. Also made me shed more hair than normal.

Humira: 8.5/10

Worked the best for me when my disease was at its highest. Less frequent than others and the syringe already had the amount I needed so very convenient!

Skyrizi: 9/10

Most time in between injections. Formula is not painful at all and the pen is so easy to use. Takes a while to notice a difference however it’s great for when my arthritis is less aggressive but noticeable enough to want help managing it

Enbrel: 2/10

Honestly hate her. wouldn’t try it again. 2/10 is generous. I noticed no significant difference and the formula 🫠 it felt like boiling water under my skin I tell you! Hated it!! But I was also a kid and very uncomfortable so I give it a few point back it probably works great for others just not me.

If you suspect you have arthritis or have psoriasis paired with joint pain I suggest seeing a doctor and researching some of these medications! Just because some didn’t work for me doesn’t mean they won’t for you this is just my experience. Talk to a doctor about the best route for you. Remember each medication has its own side effects. Immune suppression puts you at risk for other things so be mindful. Anyone else with arthritis since a young age?
