hey guys, im back with a new post!

recently, i went to korea and i realised i should consolidate some things that might not have been widely mentioned before so that it makes it easier to plan your next trip to Korea.

01 Taxis

when I first went in December, we kinda got “scammed” by the taxi driver into paying 72 dollars for our trip to the airport. im pretty sure it wasn’t worth that much but it was snowing and we were in a rush, plus we were foreigners and made the wrong choice of getting into the BLACK taxi, something I regret till now. recently, I went back to Korea and this time we downloaded Uber, which made travelling much more convenient. the Ubers were pretty cheap (can be under $10 for a 20-30 mins ride) and they come within 3 mins, which saved us a lot of time. so definitely opt for the orange cars (I think you can hail them down) or download Uber before you go!

02 Events

I think this is something people tend to overlook when planning for their trips and honestly we were pretty lucky to catch the dance finals, but definitely if you have a favourite brand like me, you can follow their Instagram and see if they have any upcoming events so that you can plan your trip better. sometimes, places like ddp offer free stuff during their exhibitions like this time, they gave out free posters! there’s also an app that allows you to track upcoming or present pop ups and I think that’s really helpful, you guys can search it up (im not sure what it’s called)

03 Food

korea really offers some of the best food, sometimes hidden in alleyways. boir boir was located in an unassuming alleyway but it gave us some of the best food for a reasonable price ($32). places like ikseondong have many cafes but we really love this specific pasta place (idk the name) but it can be quite costly at times ($43?). convenience store food are really cheap and affordable too for snacks! gwangjang market can be a little pricey but if you’re there please try the Netflix lady kalgaksu! it was affordable and really really good. honestly, you don’t really need to plan for food in korea unless you have a specific cafe/restaurant in mind.

04 Shops

my honest thoughts on wiggle wiggle is that it’s a really great place for photos and vibes, if you’re near there, you can just get in and see it but i don’t think you really need to specifically find because there’s not much to buy there. line friends is really worth a trip tho, especially for those interested in bt21 now because they are filled with bt2q merch now. they recently placed more Korea artists and brands (collab maybe??) and I think it’s worth a visit if you like korean local designs (joguman etc). im not sure about stores in Singapore but Korea offers customisation at Nike so it’s a pretty unique experience that you can try! i don’t think there’s a shortage of food stores in Korea selling clothes but for ladies, GOTO MALL is definitely 10/10, they sell clothes for cheaper prices compared to myeongdong and there’s really a lot of stores to choose from (I bought a shirt for $5).

05 Experiences

Korea offers colour analysis and I think it was a pretty good experience since we went early and I knew which colours to buy when I was shopping in Korea. if you’re more interested in finding out your colour tone or more so fashion wise, you can try it otherwise I think it might be too expensive ($200?). nami island was definitely a 10/10 experience and there was honestly a lot of photospots for pictures and knowing more about their culture and origin, we went with klook so there wasn’t really much time to have an in depth tour but I think it was enough to experience the island! Zoolung indoor zoo was really really fun! you can choose to buy a food pack to feed the different animals inside the zoo which was an experience I never had. really a 15/10 experience, I really really loved it. coex star field was really big, there’s nothing much to see at the library but there are a lot of shops in the mall that you can visit afterwards so I won’t really consider it s failed trip??

06 Others

personally, if you are taking the mrt/buses often, a heads up that the people can be quite pushy, they won’t move out of your way so more often than not, you have to move out of their way. the cab drivers don’t speak English so you might have to translate for them. be careful of your purse there and definitely move away from shady people!

this is a really long caption but if you read till the end, i hope these tips have helped you someway somehow to plan better and save more money for your next trip in korea!
