get out of seoul

travelling to seoul? why not take a day trip to gyeongju which is just nearby!

during my recent korea trip, i stopped by gyeongju while on my way to busan. it’s about 2 hours away from seoul and 30 mins from busan by the KTX train. after which you would have to take a ~30mins bus ride to the main area where all the touristy stuff are.

what i have noticed being here is that most of the tourists are actually koreans instead of foreigners, which is unlike seoul. however, it can still get crowded depending on the period of time u visit.

if you’re visiting during spring, there’s plenty of cherry blossoms here and its so pretty! there are also a few UNESCO heritage sites that people come here for

🌸FOOD

when we first arrived, we had this kimbap that my friend saw in cari cakes youtube video. they were really generous with the ingredients and it was filled with eggs. it tasted simple and homemade, nothing mind blowing but really heart warming. then we tried the matcha (level 3) and hojicha gelato at this shop called noka and it was really good imo!! before we left, we got some salt bread from a cafe called do not disturb which my friend also found from cari cakes video HAHAHAHAH. i tried the chocolate salt bread which had chocolate cream inside and it was really yummy!!! the cafe also had a really nice view

🌸SHOPS

generally the shops there are mostly catered to tourists. they sell souvenirs and many shops sold similar items. apart from cafes, there are many korean restaurants that looked quite good as well. we also saw so many shops selling the 10 won(?) cheese bread HAHAH

overall, i think it’s a great place to stop by if you happen to be travelling between seoul and busan!
