One thing about me is that I am not a huge long distance runner. I love running, but I enjoy short distance runs or sprinting more than anything else.
For that reason, I always try to come up with cardio workouts that are fun and provide variety so that I don’t get bored too quickly.
Since my goals this summer are to stay lean and maintain muscle, I have no choice but to add some cardio to the menu ;)
Here is a cardio workout from the other day that is sure to get you feeling amazing after:
- Start with a short 2 minute warm up on the stairs, just to get the blood flowing.
- increase the speed to level 10-12 and go for 30 seconds and then drop it to level 3-4 for 30 seconds.
- each minute, drop 1 level for the high intensity 30 seconds while still having a 30 second break at level 3-4.
it should look like this:
10 for 30s, 3 for 30s
9 for 30s, 3 for 30s
8 for 30s, 3 for 30s
And so on until you match the low intensity speed and then finish the 10 minutes at that level.
