There are many ways to get to/from Incheon Airport and I took the AREX Express Train both ways.
There are two types of AREX:
🚆Express train
Gets you from Incheon Airport to Seoul Station in 45 minutes. It’s clean, comfortable and comes with free Wi-Fi! There’s assigned seating and baggage racks so you don’t have to be worried about standing all the way or struggling with your huge suitcases.
💲 9,000 KRW
🚆Normal train
Works like a metro, with multiple stops. Gets you from Incheon Airport to Seoul Station in 60 minutes.
💲4,150 KRW
Tickets can be purchased at the station itself.
🛂 City Airport Terminal
If you’re taking the express trains, you can actually check in for your flight at Seoul Station itself if you’re flying with carriers like Asiana, Korean Air, T’way, etc.
So that way, your baggage will be checked through to your destination and you’ll just have to handle your own hand carry items on the train. Super convenient, especially when traveling with many huge suitcases or with a big family.
You’ll go through a first round of immigration at Seoul Station, hop onto the train, and when you get to the airport, there’s a dedicated track for expedited immigration. I was literally in and out in 5 min.
But you’ll have to be there to check in at Seoul Station at least 2.5-3 hours before your flight depending on which terminal your flight is at.
In fact, if you’re early, you can check in your heavy suitcases there and go about exploring Seoul or shopping after that, before hopping onto the AREX express train to the airport.
