do u want to go to Jeju for its seafoodπππ¦ and views but having second doubts as you can't drive? - don't let this be the reason to not visit JEJU!!ππ€§
πjeju-do is an island known for its beautiful scenery and seafood, you may know them for their female divers! you can visit JEJU by taking a short 1hr flight from Seoul, if not I heard that there are direct flights from SG too and you have to visit there at least once! unlike Seoul, it's relatively more slow-paced and their seafood are to π΅ for π€€π€€π€€ (follow and stay tuned to my next posts on a must-go and super cheap Jeju seafood restaurant)
π while most ppl drive, we had to travel without a car since my friend and I both can't drive and here's our first-hand experience and tips!π
1οΈβ£ It's definitely doable! however just be ready to walk a lot and be stranded from time to time
some tips:
β wear comfy shoes and travel light
β plan ur route and accoms to lessen the walking
2οΈβ£ god-bless that bus directions are in English
Most information boards are digital and allow you to choose your preferred language- super helpful!
β however be ready to have ur papago app/google lens on hand to translate as not all bus stops have these digital board
β staff/locals are super helpful so don't be afraid to ask them for help
β waiting time for buses can be long so have ur naver app to see if there are any alternative bus to take
3οΈβ£ Rent a taxi if u have a big grp!
honestly renting a taxi is a good choice if you can't drive but also do not want to go thru the whole walking and public bus process and have a big grp!!
β Most taxis charge based on the whole car and not by pax making it a very affordable and fuss-free option if you have a large grp
β u get to choose your own itinerary tho the driver may suggest some (up to you to decide)
β drivers even become guides at times
π²we were charged around $200 SGD (one day taxi rental) and the car was a super big and comfy suv!
πjust Google Jeju taxi rental to see all your available service providers!!
π’ overall I rly enjoyed Jeju despite not travelling with a car for the first two days! if you're not someone looking to have a jam-packed vacation at Jeju and have a budget, it's definitely doable to travel Jeju without a car! if u have a slightly higher budget and are travelling in a big grp, I will totally suggest that you try taxi rental for an affordable and fuss-free experience!!
hope this helps and follow me as I continue to ungatekeep budget traveling tips for Korea! π°π·
