I used to be very skeptical towards plant based food because I thought they are tasteless and bland. However, after attending a recent dinner gathering at Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors and presentation of the dishes!

Sharing my honest thoughts on the dishes that I have tried:

1. Miao Yi Signature Crispy Suckling Pig ($46.80)

This dish was from their seasonal special menu. It comes with cucumber and lettuce for you to wrap it. It wasn’t very impressive in terms of taste, I don’t think it’s worth it for the price.

Rating: 2/5

2. Buttered Abalone Mushroom ($13.80)

This is my favorite dish, it was crunchy and well-seasoned! Love the buttery sweetness, this mushroom dish is a must try!

Rating: 5/5

3. Claypot curry ($14.80)

Hearty serving, packed with generous portions of potatoes and veg mutton. I didn’t try the veg mutton but the rich and creamy curry sauce goes well with rice. This curry won’t go wrong!

Rating: 4/5

4. Eight treasure tofu ($16.80)

This dish tasted quite normal, nothing impressive. We expected more judging by the dish name. Might be better to order the other signature tofu dish that they have in their menu.

Rating: 2/5

5. Hakka Truffle Trio Abacus ($10.80)

This is a hit or miss. There were 3 different flavors served. I think it tastes pretty normal and it could be warmer when it was served.

Rating: 3/5

6. Mushroom in Yam Ring ($23.80)

Crispy and delicious! It’s visually appealing and appetizing. My bf loves this as well.

Rating: 4/5

7. Deep fried veg fish with Thai chilli sauce

Tasted like fried tofu but the Thai sauce makes it flavorful and they go well together.

Rating: 3/5

8. HK Ee Fu Noodles ($32.80)

The noodles tasted decent but honestly I think I have tried better ee fuu noodles elsewhere.

Rating: 3.5/5

American Ginseng Chrysanthemum Tea ($8.80 per pot)

Comforting tea to soothe our palate. We had 8-10 pax sharing a teapot, so it is quite worth it.

Rating: 4/5

Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to those who are looking for a vegetarian zi char style place to dine in. It has a cozy ambience, definitely a perfect spot to catch up with family and friends.
