Pekin Restaurant — Amazing Pekin Duck in JB 🦆

Having heard that the place gets packed at night, we gave the original Taman Sentosa outlet a visit on a weekday afternoon. We were pleasantly surprised that we could get a seat in 5 minutes to escape the blistering heat.

With a name like Restoran Pekin we knew we had to order the 𝐏𝐞𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐤. The dish featured some pre-wrapped peking duck in the signature crepes and hoisin sauce along with some slices of duck meat on the side. While the duck was not of peking duck quality that one might expect, I also cannot argue with the price and value of the dish so I gladly wolfed it down.

The 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐧𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐬 includes fried noodles tossed in beansprouts, eggs and prawns, this dish was really fragrant but a little greasy. This was one of my favourite dishes at Restoran Pekin.

The 𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐮𝐧 was topped with the signature raw egg yolk on top to give the hor fun its creamy texture. While slightly inferior to the Speciality Noodles, we still enjoyed it nonetheless.

The 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐧 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬 consisted of fried prawn balls covered with a gravy that involved mayo and condensed milk. This sweet and savoury treat was the favourite dish among my whole table.

The 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐨 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐬 was an interesting step away from the traditional Sambal Kang Kong we’re used to in Singapore, being softer with less of a bite but definitely with all the same flavour.

In all, the dishes at Restoran Pekin are all value for money.
