An end of a journey 🥲

Most breastfeeding parents would speak about how tough it is to begin and persevere breastfeeding . Some , if not most , would feel grateful to stop breastfeeding at all .

I , too , understand the pains .

I love breastfeeding . I still do . It makes me feel accomplished because I am doing something for my children that no one else but I can do .

But no one told me it would be this sad to say goodbye .

I think it's the feeling it gave me . The sense of achievement , the bond with my boy . Maybe because I did it better this time round .

I used to be able to overfill my wearables , and now my lazy boob can't even cover the valve .

If you are a low supply parent or just an (ex) breastfeeding parent , you may think I sound ignorant , but I wasn't "blessed" with oversupply . I worked hard for it . I pumped diligently even when I was latching . So I get to grieve .

Having tried multiple boosters to bring my supply back just enough to cover my firstborn's daily feeds and adding a pump or two when I can , and not feeling my letdown reflex as often anymore , I've come to terms that it's almost time to end this journey .

It's not goodbye forever, it's goodbye for now . 🤍
