Newborn Rules for Visitors that Aren’t Harsh

We are lucky to be blessed with so many friends and family that love our daughter! So it was certainly expected that many people would want to meet our newborn when she came home from the hospital. We have very respectful friends and family, but we still established a few ground rules so we would feel comfortable with others meeting our baby.

Now I’m not one for being aggressive or harsh so I wanted to make sure that our rules didn’t come across that way. After all, these people are wanting to meet our baby because they love her and us, not for any other reason!

We didn’t send these rules out, however would communicate them before someone visited.

1. Please reschedule if you’re sick, have been traveling, or have been around a lot of people recently (such as a wedding or concert).

2. Please wash your hands as soon as you come inside.

3. Please do not kiss the baby!

These were our main “rules” and everyone respected them. We also didn’t offer for anyone to hold the baby, except for the grandparents.
