The secret? Self care and self love.

In today's fast paced world, it's crucial to take a step back and prioritise self care to sustain your mental well being.

I’ve spoken to friends and many times a lot of them do not know where to begin. Every little action you do for yourself makes an impact. And if you do not know where to begin, here are some ideas that will help you along in nurturing your mind, body, and soul. Remember, self care is not selfish — it's a vital part of living a fulfilling and balanced life!

𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Start each day with a moment of mindfulness. Whether it's through meditation, journaling, or simply sipping a cup of tea, embrace the present moment and set your intentions for the day ahead. Cultivating a peaceful mindset can positively impact your overall well being.

Some resources I use and recommend: the five minutes journal, insight timer app.

𝗡𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝗼𝗱𝘆: Treat your body like a temple by nourishing it with wholesome foods. Fuel up with nourishing meals packed with fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Remember to hydrate yourself throughout the day and indulge in occasional sweet treats to satisfy your cravings. I know this point calls for a lot of discipline but it makes a difference when you are able to show up for yourself but also be kind to yourself - i don’t stress myself so much on this, but will try to make a conscious decision to stick by this whenever I can.

𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲: Find joy in movement! Engage in activities that make you feel alive, whether it's dancing, yoga, or going for a scenic hike. The key is to find a form of exercise that resonates with you and makes you feel energised and vibrant. I personally enjoy long walks to breakfast places, and pilates reformer.

𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: Tap into your creative side as a form of self-expression. Paint, write, dance, sing — let your imagination soar! Engaging in creative pursuits allows you to channel your emotions, reduce stress, and discover new facets of yourself. Psst: whenever I find myself really overwhelmed with emotions I turn to writing to pen down my thoughts and emotions and it works wonders.

𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲: Prioritise quality sleep to recharge your body and mind. Create a soothing bedtime routine, free from screens, and indulge in relaxation techniques like reading a book or taking a warm bath. Give yourself the gift of restful nights for a refreshed start each day. I stick by a minimum 7h sleep schedule daily and I’m pretty strict about it!
