It has always been a dream to have a pretty kitchen that is equally functional at the same time. In my opinion, there are a few key places in the kitchen you can choose to ‘zeng up’ more to achieve a more aesthetic look, that would be:

🌸 Kitchen Backsplash

🌸 Floor Tiles

🌸 Kitchen Cabinets (Post here)

In this post, I will be talking about the types of kitchen backsplash you can consider, along with some insights around its durability, maintenance and heat resistance:

1️⃣ Tiles

Durability: 2/3

Maintenance: 1/3

Heat Resistance: 3/3

The most dynamic and versatile option because there’s just so many tiles to choose from, you can also choose how to lay them on the wall. Pleasant to the eye but it might not be a practical one especially if you will be doing heavy cooking as a lot of cleaning will be required.

2️⃣ Glass

Durability: 2/3

Maintenance: 3/3

Heat Resistance: 1/3

The least heat resistance out of the other options. However, glass backsplash gives off a minimalistic/classy look and it’s the usual type of backsplash that comes in condo units. I’ll choose this option if I’d like something that is easy to maintain and can look aesthetic at the same time

3️⃣ Kompacplus

Durability: 3/3

Maintenance: 3/3

Heat Resistance: 3/3

Kompacplus is a type of material that is made up of pulp paper soaked in resin. It is waterproof, scratch-resistant and non porous. However, the only downside is that the design options are very limited and might only suit certain house themes (e.g. Japandi, Wabi Sabi, Scandi)

4️⃣ Marble

Durability: 2/3

Maintenance: 3/3

Heat Resistance: 2/3

Marble definitely gives off a modern luxe vibe, however, it is probably the most expensive option out of the 4, however, it requires additional maintenance and regular cleaning is required.

5️⃣ Stainless Steel

Durability: 3/3

Maintenance: 3/3

Heat Resistance: 3/3

This is definitely very for heavy cookers as a stainless steel backsplash can withstand anything the busiest kitchen can throw at it. If you’re looking for an extremely heat resistant and durable option, this can be considered!

For our place, we’re deciding between tiles and glass but will have to balance both aesthetics with functionality 🥹
