Hey zesties! I jus came back from my 2 weeks Japan grad trip 2 weeks ago and I'll be pinpointing and sharing some of the main places and attractions/activities that my friends and I had covered :)
๐Tokyo
๐๏ธ Day 1: Unko Museum ๐ฉ
It was the girls' ideas to go so we boys JUS FOLLOW honestly nothing rly interesting there, js a few lil games to play. verdict: i won't go there again ๐ซ we then had sushi ๐ฃat the world's largest conveyor belt sushi restaurant located js near the Tokyo Skytree! it was not too bad I wld say ...
๐๏ธ Day 2: Starbucks โ, Shinjuku, Ramen ๐
โข Brunch at the massive 4-floors Starbucks Reserve @Roastery Tokyo. istg the entire place was js so mesmerising, from the merchandise to the machine brewing of the coffee beans ๐ซ we dine at the alfresco area and GOD the vibes were so immaculate FRFR we definitely over-ordered but finished em all up in the end (thanks to me ~sideeye~)
โข Shinjuku really awed me with the many giant buildings it has (not forgetting the Godzilla's head ๐ฆ at the top of Toho building) kinda cute
โข Spent our evening at Teamlab Planet ๐๐ฎ - had a pretty fun exp wondering thru the themes inside it (wld recommend going here for first timers!)
โข Dinner at the famous Ichiran Ramen! it was no doubt one of the best ramen I've eaten the broth was rich in flavour and i devoured the entirety of the bowl (w/o a single ml of soup lmao)
๐๏ธ Day 3: Meiji Shrine, Shibuya Sky ๐๏ธโ๏ธ
โข Spent our morning at Meiji Jingu to learn the culture and its history behind it. We also bought some blessings amulets ๐ชฌEach amulet represents different meanings to it (eg the ones i purchased brings out good luck in studies and wealth) ps: up to us individually if we are that superstitious so to speak.
โข Entire day at Shibuya City - ofc i had to video ourselves crossing the iconic Shibuya Crossing (so many people!) We shopped at their biggest Don Quijote and went straight up to Shibuya Sky after that.
โข Shibuya Sky - as i booked the 6pm slot, the wind was extremely STRONG AND COLD ๐ฅถโ๏ธ i was wearing 2 layers but the cold really bothered me nonetheless LOLL okay but apart from that we spent nearly 2hrs up at the sky-high 46th floor. I had to say the 360ยฐ panoramic view of Tokyo was insane js wow. It even has the iconic helipad ๐ which i only get to see it from TV no doubt there were so many people taking pictures at Shibuya Sky!
๐๏ธ Day 4: Ueno Zoo
โข Entire afternoon (cos we slept in oops) was (well spent) at Ueno Zoo! Can i jus say we totally did not expect us to be in the zoo for the whole afternoon but it was not bad overall they even had kangaroos and a few birds of prey ๐ฆ
โข Dinner at Gyukatsu Motomura ๐(5th Pic) they're famous for their beef cutlets and the whole idea was to cook it ourselves with our own personal stone grills! verdict: absolutely amazing NO CAP ๐งข ps: me and my friend ordered another portion of their large bowl of rice cos we were damn hungry and it was rly too ffing good
๐๏ธ Day 5: Disneyland โฐ๏ธ
Finally got to see the Disneyland castle! ๐ฐ nevertheless, as Disneyland is more family and kids friendly, the rides were js ok. didn't got a chance to watch the fireworks at night as apparently the weather was not suitable?? (it was so sunny on that day idgi ๐๐) anyways, we still managed to watch the performance i guess. overall verdict: idt i wld want to go Disneyland anymore HAHA it was js not it (unless I'm traveling w a partner or family then am willing to consider)
๐๏ธ Day 6: Disneysea ๐
This place truly captures my attention in terms of its architectural design of it. it was SO PRETTY AND IMMACULATE like frfr oof totally giving off the Paris & Rome combine kinda feels and vibes. On the contrary, as Disneysea caters more to the youth, the rides were not bad afterall imo. and one thing about their queues was that it was CONSTANTLY moving! there were 2 sides (hence two roller coasters that explains why) we boys tried the "Journey To The Centre Of The Earth" ride ๐ข while the girls went to queue for their churros and all. it was pretty awesome esp the drop at the end. we managed to catch the fireworks at the end of the day and bought some stuff toys too. overall verdict: i wld definitely go Disneysea again as we didn't get to try all the rides yet and the vibes there were js so inviting โจ๐ฏ
๐๏ธ Day 7: Mount Fuji ๐ป
We traveled a good long 2.5hrs jus to get to the Lake Kawaguchi Station god was it exhausting ... however the virgin sight of Mount Fuji makes it totally worth the journey. rly thank god the weather was perfect that we cld see Mount Fuji so vividly. We then stopped by this Udon place to hv our lunch. getting to savour the hot piping broth in that current temp of about 16ยฐC pretty much describe our esctatic-ity. the FUN part was: we rented electric bicycles and cycled ๐ดโโ๏ธ along the path of Lake Kawaguchi! the vibes were truly surreal. Dinner was at this Shabu Shabu place (7th Pic) at Shinjuku and it was MIND-BLOWINGLY GOOD the meat dipped into the bowl of beaten egg yolk was js so so good we rly enjoyed every flavour of it.
๐๏ธ Day 8: Ginza ๐ค๐ข
โข Morning was spent at Tsukiji Market as they're famous for their super fresh seafood and other small bites! the tuna was so fresh not bad! other bites include fried food, coffee, and siew mai etc
โข Rest of the day was at Ginza - the one stop luxury shopping district in Japan! i went straight to Dior as i always wanted to buy a wallet (as my previous one has a hole in it ๐ตโ๐ซ while my friends went to Uniqlo) and Dior sounds pretty decent. and their WET TISSUE SMELLS like some atas perfume holy sh** ye but anyways after i got my purchase, i went to join my friends at the 12-STOREY Uniqlo. we shopped for abit and went ahead w our dinner - Sukiya.
๐Kyoto
๐๏ธ Day 9: Arashiyama Bamboo Forest ๐
Traveled to Kyoto via the Shinkansen bullet train (around 2hrs) and dragged our heavy ass luggages to our hotel to check in before heading to the bamboo forest. Jus a short walk until you reach the dead end.
๐๏ธ Day 10: Fushimi Inari Taisha โฉ๏ธ
Walking up the daunting 12000 flight of stairs of the famous Shrine really test our limit and determination ๐ซ ofc we had to make several pitstops to catch our breaths. We then head back to Kyoto Station to hv our dinner - at some random Udon restaurant.
๐๏ธ Day 11: Kiyomizudera Temple (8th Pic bottom left)
Visited the famous Kiyomizudera temple and learned that the temple is part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto UNESCO World Heritage site. (it was also raining on that day too - the only rainy day we had in our trip phew)
๐Osaka
๐๏ธ Day 12: Nara๐ฆ
Tried the famous mochi ๐ก before heading to Nara Park but unfortunately we didn't get to catch the mochi-pounding performance :( it tastes exceptionally good nonetheless! the deers were all pretty friendly and ofc we hv to exp feeding them if not what's the point of going to Nara am I right HAHAHA
๐๏ธ Day 13: Universal Studios Japan ๐พ๐ฏ๐ต
Spent the day at USJ and we were all so pumped up for this day. imo, the rides were meh as compared to the ones in SG (USS's rides were more lit say real) they were pretty ok and predominantly dizzy ๐ตโ๐ซ too. So sad the "Flying Dinosaur" was closed for maintenance aish wasted! Super Nintendo World was a wonderful sight to see BUT the RIDES WERE MAINLY FOR KIDS it was a HUGE LET DOWN for me as there was nth much there. However, the rides at Wizarding World of Harry Potter were not too bad i wld say ps: their butter beer was good! last but not the least, we rode "Hollywood Dream: The Ride" ๐ข as we purchased the Express Pass, we queued for only 15mins ๐ ngl my heart was POUNDING FAST and i was literally questioning myself when the coaster went up the STEEP climb; before i knew it, it came PLUNGING DOWN FAST the adrenaline for real got me ๐ซจ overall verdict of USJ: i wld go again for the Flying Dinosaur and Hollywood Dream: The Ride but not SNW. (6.5-7/10)
๐๏ธ Day 14: Osaka Castle ๐ฏ, Umeda Sky Building
Went to the iconic castle in the morning (we skipped the long queue as we pre-purchased the Osaka Amazing 1-Day Pass which covers the 2 attractions for this day). A lot of history being displayed inside the castle (i was feeling sleepy by js looking at it alr oops). We then headed to one of Osaka's landmark - Umeda Sky Building, which stands at 170m above ground level! Jus like Shibuya Sky, the view of Osaka city was insanely beautiful โค๏ธ
๐๏ธ Day 15: Last day ๐
Didn't do much on our last day except the long ass traveling from Osaka > Tokyo > Narita Airport. Had our last-min purchases before going into the departure hall (ps: our flight โ๏ธ was delayed from the initial time of 1900 to 2000 whats good ๐ฅน)
AND SO, this pretty much sums up the entirety of my FIRST Japan trip! Apologies for the long ass post but I hope this helps if you're going to Japan (and for first-timers too!) Otherwise, stay tuned and happy traveling !!
