Memories Made, Life Moved On.

I recently went back to tour my university because I happened to be nearby. Anyone recognize where this is? Hahah. Drove around visiting my alma mater and some places I used to hang out at. Wow, those memories 💭

The whole campus felt familiar yet unfamiliar. Some areas looked the same, while others looked very different. The car park I used to park at was halved and I nearly drove into the wrong entrance hahaha. The buildings I used to study in seemed the same, but there were also new ones that made the older ones look ancient. I mean, it has been 7 years since I graduated after all. It’s only expected that things look different. It all blended into this mix of nostalgia and novelty hahah.

I think what’s cool is that for the different corners I went to revisit, despite some of them looking different now, there are memories tied to all of them. Hanging out with friends, having meals, mugging for exams, joining ad-hoc activities, etc. Looking back, my uni days were really quite happening and eventful hahaha. I guess it is a kind of blessing and privilege to have such memories. While many things have changed—friends have left, life has moved on—it still felt nice to look back and reminisce. Ultimately, I’m glad those moments happened.

I always tell younger folks that going to tertiary education is about experiencing life. Don’t spend all your time studying and chasing grades. While GPA/CAP is important, it really doesn’t mean as much as we think it does in the working world. Go have fun. Be responsible and make good memories. Campus life is unique and probably the last time you’ll truly feel carefree. Cherish it.

Wow, sounds like an old man writing this hahaha. “Don’t be sad that it’s over, be glad that it happened.” I guess that sentence sums up my whole uni life 🎓
