STUDYING ABROAD IN KOREA ✨

I got a chance to study abroad in korea for the inter exchange programme and honestly it was one of the best decisions i’ve made! so I wanted to share with you guys on the application process!

First off the application, the dates are usually published by the host university itself, hence you’d have to keep a look out! usually it’s 3-4 months prior to the programme date. The tuition fees for early birds (which is recommend you guys to do so) is at a discounted rate at 1,400,000 won and the application fee is 100,000 won. Hence you’d roughly have to prepare approximate of 1.5k SGD for the programme itself. Remember to prepare your transcript as well as you’d have to submit that!

Second, after the application which is rather quite straightforward, you’d have to submit your insurance and once you’re accepted, you’d just have to go through a course registration and you are good to go!

As for housing, there are dorms for you to choose from. The dorms are specifically for foreign students and varies in prices depending on the type of housing you’d like and the number of people in a room. As for me, I had manage to find 3 other girls who were heading to the same school as me and hence shared an airbnb near Yonsei for our accommodation.

Once the programme starts, it generally is really fast paced. Since it’s winter, we only have 14 classes and as for my course, we only spend a total of 1.5h of lesson time each day and we are free to roam around! The lesson was taught in english and the classes was filled with foreign students, hence there isn’t any chance for you to make friends with local korean students. Plus do note that the programme does come with mid term and final exams for grade examinations.

There are also extra curricular programmes such as skii trips, dmz tour and etc for you to join as an added on option when you attend the programme. However do note that these would bear some extra costs!

Nevertheless it was a fulfilling exchange for me as I manage to learn a lot about korean culture and history along with it’s evolvement in time. It was also a childhood dream of mine to attend a school in korea and honestly Yonsei University was really generous with its well maintained facilities and experiences for us to enjoy.
