i planned a day in nyc (so you don’t have to) 🍋

I lived in nyc for two years and had the fortune of showing my friends and family around the city when they visited 😌 Here’s how I would plan a perfect day sightseeing in ✨West Village✨

1 - Start off the day near Penn Station / Hudson Yards with breakfast

📍The Bakery at Greywind (W 35th St)

📍Bluestone Lane (Hudson Yards)

2 - Hudson Yards

Spend some time checking out one of the newest neighborhoods in the city! Some sights to see include:

📍The Vessel (big bird’s nest looking sculpture)

📍 The Edge (observation deck — i would skip this in favor of Summit One Vanderbilt but if you have limited time you could check this one out)

📍Tapestry HQ (the lobby has a really cool wall display of coach bags!)

3 - High Line

Start walking the high line from Hudson Yards down south! Fun to peek into random people’s apartments and see how they transformed an old train track into a public park!

📍Start on W 30th St and walk towards Meatpacking District around 13th St

4 - Light lunch (in anticipation for a heavier dinner)

📍Very Fresh Noodles (Chelsea Market)

📍L’Artusi (228 W 10th St) — lunch is much easier to get a reservation! Make sure to book in advance on Resy. Reservations open 2 weeks ahead at 9am ET

📍L’Industrie Pizzeria West Village — pepperoni sausage and riccotta is my fav

📍Mama’s Too! — similar style to Prince St pizza without the long line

5 - West Village / Meatpacking sightseeing

Casually stroll around the area. It’s one of my favorite areas in nyc for the vibes! I would want to live here if i could afford it lol

📍Little Island — little park on the pier, super quaint vibes

📍Carrie Bradshaw’s Apartment — for all you sex and the city fans

📍Apartment from the TV Show Friends — for all you Friends fans

6 - Optional tea time

West Village also houses two of my favorite tea houses

📍Té Company — taiwanese tea in a very small tea shop, ask for the little tea booklet to look through their wide selection! Walk in only

📍Genesis House — korean tea in a fancy af auto building. Reservations on Resy

7 - Dinner

Dinner in West Village unfortunately requires quite a bit of advance planning. Camping on Resy a few weeks before your trip is key! Otherwise, you could try waiting at the restaurant before it opens to try and secure a walk-in table.

📍Don Angie (103 Greenwich Ave) — my undisputed favorite Italian restaurant in the city. Also impossible to get a reservation for on Resy so I have always just waited in the walk-in line. Reach the restaurant 45mins to 1hr earlier (~3:30pm) to be one of the first few in line to be seated in the first seating. Definitely order the lasagna, stracchino gnocchi, stuffed garlic flatbread and chrysanthemum salad

📍Via Carota (51 Grove St) — famous for their cacio e pepe. Reservations open a month before at 10am. Use Resy notify to waitlist yourself for a table!

📍Jeju Noodle Bar (679 Greenwich St) — korean ramyun and other comforting delights! Book ahead on Resy

8 - End the night at Comedy Cellar

If you love stand up comedy, be sure to make a reservation ahead! They have several locations at MacDougal Street, Village Underground, and Fat Black Pussycat. Reservations strongly recommended at least a week or two before, but if seats run out you can join the standby queue. Be sure to go early to put your name on the waitlist and return later closer to showtime!
