I took a break from fitness and teaching for about 3 weeks to go on holiday: hereβs how I kept up with my fitness while I was away ππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈ
FIRST OFF:
Itβs completely normal if your body undergoes some changes after coming back from holiday: the difference in routine, food and activity levels is bound to change your body composition to some extent. But if youβve been maintaining a healthy lifestyle and levels of activity for letβs say a year or 3 years, 3 weeks of deviating from your routine isnβt going to derail your progress! π€ͺ
1. WALK WALK WALK πΆββοΈπΆπΆββοΈ
If you can walk there, WALK THERE! I believe that walking is the easiest way to maintain your baseline level of activity. Besides, if youβre visiting a country with a colder climate, it is soooo easy and so enjoyable to be out walking while exploring the place.
2. ATTEND LOCAL GROUP CLASSES ππ»ββοΈπ§π»ββοΈπ€ΌββοΈ
If you have a classpass account, you can use your credits in any country where itβs operating. I used my credits to attend a variety of classes from olympic weightlifting to meditation!
3. OPT FOR HEALTHIER FOOD OPTIONS π₯π₯©π³
Where possible, opt for higher protein, fibre and micronutrient options. It was relatively cheap to get healthy food options in Europe. Better still, you can always choose to prepare your own meals at home! Leafy vegetables like spinach and kale are SUPER CHEAP in the UK.
4. INDULGE IN MODERATION ππ¦π
With that being said, you shouldnβt feel the need to completely restrict yourself from enjoying what your travel has to offer. A short term change in lifestyle isnβt going to completely derail you from your fitness goals.
