Tips on taking the HSR in Taipei to TaiChung

In an attempt to drop some tips on taking the HSR in Taiwan since my friend and I screwed up not once but twice in a day 😅 and learnt it the hard way.

We bought our tickets on Klook to and fro Taipei to TaiChung. After obtaining the voucher redemption code you have to proceed to: (https://irs.thsrc.com.tw/IMINT/?locale=en) to select the time slots for your tickets!

If you are travelling from Taipei, head over to the Taipei main station (earlier) to collect the tickets as the train leaves on time. They will allow you to collect both tickets (to and fro) if you want to, unless you would like to amend the ticket time 30mins before the booked timing.

When you are travelling back from TaiChung, do take note that the HSR is not at the TaiChung Station!! It is located at Xin Wuri Station (or just search HSR Taichung station on Google Maps).

* A little backstory: We were researching on the night markets located near the station so that we could travel back easily and we were locating the night markets near TaiChung Station. In the Uber we were still going on like “since we are going to reach 1hr early, maybe we can ask for a change in ticket timing” 🙂‍↔️🤡 We then uber-ed there to realise we were at the wrong place when we asked the customer service. 🥹 And it was mad rush to the station. *
