Hello everyone! Welcome to part two of my Taiwan itinerary!

If you haven't checked out part one yet, be sure to do so here! In this post, I'll be sharing my experiences in Taichung, Kaohsiung, and Taipei (yes, again!).

We started our journey by taking the High-Speed Rail (HSR) from Taipei to Taichung Station. Make sure to buy your HSR tickets in advance on the THSR website (you can book up to 4 weeks early).

๐Ÿก We stayed at Explore Hotel, conveniently located near Feng Chia Night Market. We even got a free upgrade to a loft room!

๐Ÿง‹ Our first stop was Chun Shui Tang Original Store, the birthplace of boba tea! I ordered the large Pearl Milk Tea (Size M) along with some snacksโ€”popcorn chicken and prawn siew mai. While the milk tea was rich and the pearls were chewy, the snacks were just average. Is it worth visiting? Yes, especially if you're a first-timer in Taiwan. It's a great place to immerse yourself in Taiwanโ€™s boba culture!

๐Ÿ– For dinner, we headed to Feng Chia Night Market, which quickly became our favourite night market! We returned every night during our stay in Taichung. The market is filled with affordable food, shopping, and games. We tried stinky tofu here (not our favourite ๐Ÿซ ), but I highly recommend the fried squid stall with the bright yellow sign and the scallion pancakes from ้€ข็”ฒไธนไธน้ฆ™่”ฅๆฒน้ค… Fฤ“ng Jiฤ Dฤn Dฤn Xiฤng Cลng Yรณu Bวng.

We booked a day tour via Klook, which saved us tons of timeโ€”perfect for lazy travelers or families. The tour included hotel pickup and drop-off, and our driver was super friendly.

๐Ÿ“ Old England Manor was our first stop, but it was a bit of a letdown since we couldnโ€™t enter the manorโ€ฆ

๐Ÿ“ Qingjing Farm was next, where we soaked in the beautiful scenery and fed the sheep (watch out for the poop ๐Ÿ’ฉ !). We also caught a horse show and even took a picture with the horses. Admission to the farm is NT$200 (~SGD$9), and you can buy food for the sheep at vending machines inside the farm.

๐Ÿ“ Carton King, located near the farm, is a quirky spot where almost everything is made of cardboard. Itโ€™s perfect for kids, with fun activities like slides and cardboard rides. Caught my partner snacking on his ice cream while playing on the rocking wooden horse! ๐Ÿคฃ

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Had lunch with our tour group at Chicken King, but it was nothing special and quite pricey ๐Ÿค‘

๐Ÿ“ The highlight of the tour was Sun Moon Lake. Our ferry ticket included three stops:

๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ Xuanguang Wharf โ€“ We briefly visited the temple and tried tea eggs from the famous egg tea stall.

๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ Ita Thao โ€“ This tourist village had a great vibe with lots of aboriginal and Taiwanese street food. Since many shops were selling similar items, be careful of hard selling (Just kindly reject them ๐Ÿค—)

๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ Shuishe โ€“ We enjoyed a stunning sunset as we returned to Shuishe Village.

๐ŸฅŸ We ended the night back at Feng Chia Night Market for more street food and arcade games.

We took the HSR from Taichung to Zuoying Station in Kaohsiung.

๐Ÿก Stayed at R14 ๅทจ่›‹ๆ—…ๅบ— Hotel, which was clean, spacious, and close to RuiFeng Night Market.

๐Ÿœ Lunch was at ๆŸ’ๆ‹พไผ่™Ÿ่€้บต้คจๅทจ่›‹ๅบ—-้ญš้ชจ้ซ˜ๆนฏๅฐˆ่ณฃ, where we enjoyed fresh fish soup noodles and a seafood rice noodle soup set. The meal included side dishes and free sour plum soup. Highly recommend!

๐Ÿ“ The highlight of Kaohsiung was visitingFo Guang Shan Buddha Museum /Temple/Monastery. It was majestic, and I spent my time soaking in the history and culture, leaving my phone behind. This is a must-visit!

๐Ÿก Dinner was at Ruifeng Night Market. There were many arcade games and affordable food, although the food wasnโ€™t the best in my opinion.

We took the HSR back to Taipei.

๐Ÿก Stayed at CityInn Hotel Taipei Station One. Unfortunately, this was our least favourite hotelโ€”small room with poor sound insulation. At least they offered free cup noodles and hot drinks to make up for it (Free supper every night! ๐Ÿคค)!

๐Ÿœ Lunch at Ichiran Taipei Main Branch. The queue was long (about 1.5 hours), but worth it! The broth was rich, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Very hearty meal!

๐Ÿ“ We then headed to Huashan 1914 Creative Park, where I ended up doing more shopping than I intended.. At the time of visit, there were so many cute popups selling pastries and yummy bakes. There were also a local artist exhibition where they sell cute little handmade items - I lost it and bought so many things from here cux how can I resist a hand-drawn capybara passport holder, sweet potato balls cup sleeves?! ๐Ÿ˜ญ (couldnโ€™t resist the handmade items!).

Definitely check their website for upcoming events, as thereโ€™s always something happening.

๐Ÿ“ To unwind, we visited Water House and enjoyed their communal indoor bathhouse.

๐ŸฅŸ For dinner, we headed to Shilin Night Market

๐Ÿœ Brunch was at the Michelin Bib restaurant Wangโ€™s Broth at Huaxi Street Market. The braised pork rice was affordable and deliciousโ€”one of the best we had in Taiwan.

๐ŸฅŸ We also tried the Michelin Bib Yuan Fang Gua Bao, located near Wangโ€™s Broth Restaurant. The bun was stuffed with braised meat, salted vegetables, coriander and ground peanuts. If your not a big fan of coriander (like me), you probably wouldnโ€™t enjoy this as much ๐Ÿฅฒ

๐Ÿ“ We spent the rest of the day wandering around Ximending and visited The Red House, a lively shopping area filled with a great selection of boutique shops (Quite exp though)

๐ŸŒณ Later, we hiked Xiangshan to catch a view of Taipei 101. The hike was intense with lots of stairs, but the view was worth it!

๐Ÿฅ˜ For dinner, we had a buffet-style hotpot at Mala Hot Pot. Make sure to book in advanceโ€”we waited two hours in the cold! The variety was impressive, especially the selection of Hรคagen-Dazs ice cream ๐Ÿจ - wanted to try all the flavours but tummy was too full >.< Maybe next time!

We woke up early to queue for breakfast at Fu Hang Soy Milk. After 2.5 hours, the food was sadly underwhelming. Definitely not worth the long wait.

๐Ÿ“ We stopped by Chia Te Bakery to grab souvenirs (the pineapple tarts and Tai Yang Bing are a must!).

๐ŸฅŸ For lunch, we takeaway Din Tai Fung from their Xinyi branch, which we enjoyed picnic-style at Huashan 1914 Creative Park. Went back to the local artist exhibition and bought more stuff, and there were also a pet fair ongoing as well (Saw many cute doggos and cats!)

๐ŸฅŸ For dinner, we headed back to Raohe Street Night Market to enjoy the Fuzhou Black Pepper Bun and crispy pork (For the last time before we head back..)

And thatโ€™s a wrap for part two of my 11-day Taiwan itinerary! If you have any questions or need more details, feel free to ask. Hope you found this post helpful! โœจ โœฒโ€ฟโœฒ
