Fall is the season of brown butter and sage. Throw some garlic and gnocchi in there and you’ve got a combo that is going to truly knock your socks off.
I looove making crispy gnocchi. It’s far superior than boiled gnocchi in my opinion. The outside gets golden brown and crunchy, but the inside stays pillowy soft. It’s addictive, that’s for sure.
Ok! Here’s how to make a super simple brown butter and sage gnocchi dish. All you need is a few ingredients and about 15 minutes.
Ingredients
1/2 package of gnocchi
4 tbsp butter
10 sage leaves
2 cloves garlic, sliced thin
salt and pepper to taste
optional for garnish: chopped roasted pecans and grated parmesan
Instructions
Boil gnocchi according to package instructions.
Melt butter in a large skillet over medium/low heat.
Add sage leaves and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, until butter has browned and the sage and garlic is fragrant and crispy. Remove sage and garlic from the pan and set aside.
Add cooked gnocchi to the pan with the butter and cook, stirring occasionally until golden brown and crispy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Add sage and garlic back to the pan and give it all one final stir. Transfer to a plate and top with chopped roasted pecans and grated parmesan. Enjoy! Serves 2.
