Fat loss comes from a calorie deficit… burning more than you consume. This means that as long as you are staying under your RMR ( how many calories you burn at a resting rate), then you will be losing fat.

For example you could eat a super nutritious smoothie that is healthy but it has over 800 calories in it. Or you could eat a breakfast sandwich at McDonald’s that has 400. In terms of fat loss only, the McDonald’s would actually be a better option.

Am I telling you that McDonald’s is healthy? No, in terms of nutrients the smoothie would mostly likely win. Fueling you’re body with protein, carbs, and fats are essential but im just talking about fat loss. You just have to be aware that some foods that are “healthy” can actually be extremely high in calories, and some foods that are considered “unhealthy” may have less calories. Enjoy the foods you love, while also getting nutrients in too.

You’re not going to gain fat if you just stay in a calorie deficit!
