One of the latest fads in Hong Kong is the sourdough egg tart from Bakehouse and we decided to pay a visit to see if it’s worth the hype!

The queue was quite long when we arrived but it moved rather quickly and we managed to make our purchase in about 5 minutes.

πŸ₯‘ We ordered their sourdough egg tarts, a tiramisu danish and a few cookies for takeaway.

Sourdough egg tart

The egg tart was of the flaky kind but with a sourdough crust which made it slightly thicker and was a mix of crispy and chewy. The egg custard was generous and sweetness was just right. We ate the egg tarts back at our hotel and it would definitely taste better when eaten warm.

Tiramisu danish

πŸ’° Price: HKD 52 (SGD 9)

The tiramisu danish was huge and almost double the size of the egg tart. Biting into the danish pastry revealed a tiramisu flavoured cream that had hints of coffee and chocolate. Filling was generous and not overly sweet. We found it quite average for the price.

πŸ™Œ Overall, we found the sourdough egg tart yummy and unique but probably wouldn’t queue more than 15 minutes for it.
