It is not on everyone’s bucket list to do a half marathon - but it is for me.
I used to only run a maximum of 3km or 5km for my usual daily runs.
On certain occasions, I would run 8km/10km if I was training for a race. However, I would have never imagined myself running a half marathon.
📍Some tips to fulfil your dream/to-do list to complete a half marathon:
1️⃣ Find friends who has the same interest - running
(training at different locations such as stadium and parks will help your body be prepared)
2️⃣ Run and train weekly - at least twice a week and about 5km - 10km each time
3️⃣ Drink isotonic water - Water and Pocari sweat/100plus during or after the run (in moderation)
Honestly, the maximum I have ever ran and trained is only 10km.
Nothing beyond that. So I was thinking how long would it take for me to complete the HM. Usually, my pace is 6min/km and it fluctuates.
During my 2XU run, I went for the last pen - PEN E as I was thinking I might take at least 3 hours to complete due to the long distance. However, I took 2h30mins with a pace of 7min/km. Most of the time, my pace dropped due to the crowd at the starting and some points in between. However, I exceeded my expectations and managed to get a good pace and complete it at a good time.
I will probably try again next year to improve on my PB and it was a fun experience.
