2 Austria cities in 4 days?!?!

not me acting like i didn't procrastinate 6 months for this part 2... BUT nevertheless, let's get to how my family and i toured Austria in just 4 days!!

we spent 3 days in Salzburg aka the city of music, and 1 day in Innsbruck as recommended by a friend

out of the 4 European countries we toured last year, Austria was our favourite along with Switzerland — there's just something about this city that's so captivating and i miss it everyday 🥹

so do yourself a favour and visit Austria!! and especially Salzburg if you're a fan of Mozart and/or The Sound of Music 🤍

Day 1 (all walking distance from each other)

🇦🇹 Mirabell Palace (TSOM filming location)

🇦🇹 Mozart's Wonhaus, Getburthaus, Residenzplatz

🇦🇹 Don Quartier Salzburg

🇦🇹 Salzburg Cathedral

🇦🇹 Kapitelschwemme

🇦🇹 Stift nonnberg

🇦🇹 Fortress Hohensalzburg

🇦🇹 Schloß Leopoldskron (TSOM filming location - recommended to cab there)

🇦🇹 Schloss Hellbrunn, the Sound of Music Pavillion (TSOM filming location - recommended to cab there)

🇦🇹 Salzach's river cruise (skippable but if you have the Salzburg city card, the river cruise is free!!)

Day 2

🇦🇹 Eisriesenwelt Ice Cave - a MUST GO!! even if you're not interested in the ice cave, the hike up there is another attraction in itself already. i think about the views everyday... 😭 can't wait to go back

🇦🇹 Sound of Music Trail - if you're a fan of the movie, you can't miss this iconic filming location!! it was where sister Maria and the children sang the iconic "Doh a Deer" song. BUT, even if you're not a fan, the scenery is enough to get you there lah pls it's really 100/10

But just beware because both locations require a substantial amount of walking and hiking, so you might wanna split them up into different days haha don't be like us 🤡

Day 3

🇦🇹 Travel to Hallstatt

🇦🇹 Sky walk

🇦🇹 Salt mine tour (Salzwelten) - a very eye opening experience, but ngl i got bored towards the end. the whole tour took 2 hours and you can't leave halfway because you're brought in with a tour group (or you can try haha idk). felt a little wasted because that time could have been better used to tour Hallstatt even more! but nonetheless it was a good experience and the slides were funnnn!

oh but just a heads up that you might encounter some form of racism because my family did 😀

🇦🇹 Travel to Innsbruck

Day 4 — Innsbruck

🇦🇹 Triumphal Arch

🇦🇹 Maria Theresien Straße

🇦🇹 Swarovski Store

🇦🇹 Stadtturm Clock Tower

🇦🇹 Altstadt

🇦🇹 Hofkirche

🇦🇹 Hofburg Imperial Palace

🇦🇹 Emile-Bethouart-Steg

🇦🇹 Innbrucke

And that's all folks!!! Overall it was quite a rushed itinerary because we were trying to squeeze in as much as we could with limited days, so i would recommend y'all to spread out your itinerary if you're the relax-travel type!

- public transport is very accessible and the city is very clean!! download the OBB app and everything is done for you~ just remember to check the train/bus timings as they can be quite infrequent!
