budget student travels: copenhagen! 🇩🇰👀

as a typical student on an exchange, i visited copenhagen over the weekend ! copenhagen is really pretty and in fact one of the cleanest cities ive been to in europe 👍🏻 and because im a student (and hence broke), ive made a list of free places to visit ! here are my top 5 favourite spots (that are within walking distance!)

1. nyhavn ⚓️

nyhavn is a bustling waterfront lined with colourful buildings and cafes ! this place is perfect for photo-taking and a slow walk by the canal

2. frederiks kirke (aka the marble church)

this church is known for its rococo-style architecture and completely free to visit 😌 its located right outside the metro station (marmorkirken) so its super convenient to get there

3. kastellet 🎖️

the kastellet is a star-shaped military fortress (you can see it from google maps!) that is open to the public . within the area you will be able to see landmarks such as the windmill and the st alban’s church that is on top of a hill

4. the little mermaid 🧜🏼‍♀️

this bronze statue is based on the fairytale by hans christian anderson who was born in denmark. honestly not a super pretty landmark but a stroll at the park around it as well as the riverbank is quite pleasant

5. strøget 🛍️

although as a broke student, i didnt exactly buy anything, it was still enjoyable to walk along this street and experience the hustle and bustle of town 😬 the buildings were colourful and it was a nice way to experience the city

overall, i’d say copenhagen has plenty of free things to do and see 👀 but from one broke student to another, it is definitely an expensive city to explore (cost of transport and food are 📈📈)

if you have the time to drop by this city, i’d say go for it! but if its out of the way, i’d give it a miss 😬 a weekend trip to copenhagen is enough to explore the sights that this city has to offer ☺️☺️
