Day 2: Stone Forest (石林) • Green Lake Park (翠湖公园) • Kunming Old Street (昆明老街) • overnight stay in Kunming

OUR ACCOMMODATION

Grand Hyatt Kunming | 昆明君悦酒店

Our original plan was to stay in local boutique accommodations on this trip, but for us in Kunming, that meant being 45 minutes outside of the city. We subsequently picked the newly opened Grand Hyatt, conveniently connected to Spring City 66 mall.

OUR EXPERIENCE

Starting our day at 10am, we took a 90 minute drive to the Stone Forest and arrived as the early bird groups were departing. The forest is split into the ‘Big Stone’ and ‘Small Stone’ areas. Both interesting, with lots of stairs to climb.

After lunch, we headed back to the city and did a walking tour to several iconic spots.

Dinner was pizza shaped like a jellycat - so cute!

Yunnan Tip 1

Kunming sits at an altitude similar to Genting Highlands and is a good acclimatisation starting point for Yunnan.
