my #whyUK for exchange!! + other considerations

disclaimer: i don’t study in london! i study in southampton which is a part of UK

THINGS I CONSIDERED FOR EXCHANGE

1️⃣ course mapping

- because nbs is a 3 year course, i needed to clear some mods here (mainly core or electives) so i couldn’t js anyhow pick a school that only offered me 1/2 mods i had a pick one that offered me at least 4 mods that i cld map over and UK happened to be one of the best ones for marketing

2️⃣ where my friends were going

- my group of nbs friends all decided not to go tgt to the same school or area because of our diff interests but it still came to a point where we shld be near or accessible to one another so we can travel tgt

- the biggest point i wld say is my best friends all study in the UK so it just gave me a chance to be with them for an extended period of time

3️⃣ VISA + attendance

- studying in UK doesn’t need a visa because it’s less than 6 months hence attendance is not compulsory teehee

4️⃣ nature!!

i’m such a nature girl over a city girl which is why i don’t particular enjoy london but i LOVE the rest of the UK like lake district, isle of wright, cantebury, scotland and they are all so accessible

5️⃣ when school started

okay this isn’t in my considerations but it’s good to know, my school started one month later than everyone else’s so that’s why i only end in end jan (when the next semester alr started) but that was a plus for me because that gave me a chance to go canada for a month first !! it kinda feels like an extended exchange!

6️⃣ cost

i think everyone knows UK is not the cheapest in fact lol it’s so expensive but we cook alm every meal here and groceries r cheap !

7️⃣ housing

my uni offers student accoms so it was good as we didn’t need to find our own accoms !!

8️⃣ safety

i know and saw all the london tiktoks.. the phone snatching and everything.. hm i wld say i feel generally safe in the UK i think the internet make it seem so much worse than it actually is. like truly if u just mind your own things and pay extra attention like any other country, you will do fine..

i truly think there r perks to any exchange country but thats js mine for the UK ~ i truly love it here
