Ever since I was young, I’ve always been the skinny friend. I had a fast metabolism. I was tall for my age with lanky arms and legs, and I was just that skinny girl.

For years, my weight has bothered me, I tried gaining weight so many different ways. But my metabolism and my inability to eat enough even though I ate plenty, kept me from getting past 120lbs.

For a literal years, I would hop between being 110 and 120, never being able to get past that.

So you can guess how happy I’ve been the last year or so when I realized I was not only gaining weight but keeping it on. I knew I was gaining weight because pants I had had for years stopped fitting dresses I had had in size two stop fitting, and I could just tell her from my body that some weight had been gained.

I’ve never been someone who forced myself to go on diets, or really weighed myself, especially after becoming so discouraged, with my inability to gain weight, so I refrained from weighing myself to see how much I had gained for months.

Imagine my shock when I went to the doctors a few days ago for a routine check up and they weigh me and I am 147lbs. Mind you the last time I checked I was at like 125.

I’m not mad at the weight gain at all. I’ve always wanted to be around this weight, I just now want to shape my body into the one that I want and to be healthy.

A lot of my weight gain has not been the healthiest (some pizza & tacos here and there ;) ) but I am conscious and aware of the things I put into my body so even if I don’t eat whole foods every single day, I know I get enough vitamins, water, and nutrition that I need to supplement my diet with , so now I’m going to be more intentional with what I eat because I do want a certain physique, but I know I can only attain and maintain it with the proper balance of exercise and good diet.
