4 things I wish I knew before I started traveling solo (part 1) ✈️
📍It’s okay to spend time alone
You’ve probably seen solo travel videos on social media and they often make it seem like it’s very easy to find new friends as a solo traveler and you’ll be surrounded by people all the time. I didn’t find it that easy to make lasting friendships and spending most of my time alone made me feel like a failure. Remember that it’s totally fine to spend time alone when traveling solo and you don’t need to feel pressure to socialize!
📍Do thorough research before spending a night at the airport
I’ve often stayed the night at the airport after a flight because I haven’t wanted to take public transportation to the city at night. However, I would recommend you research the airport a lot in advance. I have used Sleeping at Airports blog but it hasn’t always been accurate so check multiple sources to make sure you’ll have a comfortable enough overnight airport stay!
📍Pick a hostel that fits YOUR needs
Don’t feel pressured to book a popular party hostel if you want something more quiet and chill! You’ll still have a great experience at more peaceful hostels.
📍Bring a padlock
Most hostels don’t have one and you’ll have to rent or buy them so bring one of your own to keep your things safe.
