IDEAS FOR YOUR FIRST SOLO TRIP ✈️

🌍 Want to take your first solo trip? You may be nervous - which is totally understandable - and want a destination that offers plenty to do but is safe and easy to navigate. Here are my suggestions as a 10+ year solo travel veteran:

🇵🇦 Panama: Enjoy urban vibes in Panama City (take a salsa class!), explore the Bocas del Toro archipelago (one of my favorite coastal destinations on Earth), or enjoy the laid back backpacker culture of Boquete (visit a coffee plantation). All of these locations have excellent traveler culture and great places to stay. I felt very safe in Panama and they use the USD, so no currency conversion.

🇨🇷 Costa Rica: Costa Rica's "Pura Vida" lifestyle and its status as the top tourist destination in Central America make it a perfect solo pick. Learn to surf in Tamarindo, a great "starter" solo travel town that's full of people to meet If you're looking for wildlife, Costa Rica is your best pick, especially the Monteverde Cloud Forest. They are very set up for tourism so it's easy to travel around and book activities, plus most folks speak English.

🇳🇴 Norway: If you have the budget for it, Norway is the safest and most beautiful choice, in my opinion. Depending on what time of year you visit, you can cruise through the iconic fjords in Bergen, hike to Trolltunga or chase the Northern Lights in Tromsø. Oslo is a vibrant, clean city with plenty to do as well.

🇬🇧 UK: With a vast train network and no language barrier for Americans to explore posh London, the UK is a great pick. Venture into the Scottish Highlands (one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen) or discover the quaint villages of the Cotswolds (aka pretend you're Cameron Diaz in The Holiday). There is truly something for everyone!
