WANGBIJIB KBBQ | Is it REALLY worth the hype?? 🤔

We wanted to try out this highly raved kbbq that was recommended on TT, however it was closed! We decided to try the restaurant located below wangbijip which i will leave it for next review 😉

We decided to try our luck at night but it was fully booked! However, we came at the right time because apparently we were “escorted” to the SECOND outlet 🥳 (“escorted” in a sense that we followed the staff as if we were on a tour 😂)

What we ordered and here are my thoughts💁🏼‍♀️:

한우욱회 Beef Tartare

Despite visiting korea for the 4th time, this was indeed my first time trying beef tartare. It does indeed sound weird because it’s raw beef mixed with egg yolk & pear slices.

But boy, this was the best dish I’ve ever tried in Korea! Though it’s raw, it was nicely coated by the egg yolk which probably cancel out the rawness? The pear slices mixed well with the dish and gave it a tint of sweetness. How could I not try this for all the times I’ve been to korea???

Korean Beef Tenderloin | Boneless Short Rib

It was nice to finally have some beef for kbbq however to be very honest, though it’s beef tenderloin, there was nothing special about this as a kbbq dish. There was nothing memorable about this dish that I can share with you guys.

비빔 Buckwheat Noodles

This was a decent buckwheat noodle. However, nothing too memorable for me as I’ve still have not found any buckwheat noodle that stood out for me. (Though my partner loved this)

Overall thoughts:

- Was it worth the hype?

Yes IF you’re here for the beef tartare.

No if you’re here for kbbq as it is very pricey. (Similar to SG prices). There are many authentic kbbq around and this is a kbbq restaurant that targets tourists like myself.

- Was it interesting/unique?

Sorry to disappoint, but no. The only thing that was unique was the beef tartare. For those who have tried beef tartare before, you can afford to give this place a miss.

- Was it worth the wait?

Thankfully there was no wait time except the walk to the second outlet. Otherwise, use that time to try out more authentic kbbq.
