🌟IT'S OKAY BEING ALONE:
How i learned to appreciate being alone?
1. romanticise my life, dress pretty and go on solo dates, walks, reading, drawing with headphones on. it became a way to heal from draining social situations 🤕
2. spending time with friends who makes you feel comfortable. hanging out with friends shd feel effortless and fulfilling. if you feel that u are always doing something you don't want to just to please others/u are holding back yr reactions or things u want to say/u aren't acting how you normally do, or you are always left feeling negative (left out/unwelcomed/made used of), it's a sign to re-evaluate your relationships. u write yr own life so u choose yr own characters. i had friends who projected their insecurities onto me and made me hated little things about myself everyday.
My circle got smaller and smaller and i'm so grateful for the friends i have now, they always have my back and its crazy whenever we are together, friendships shouldnt be draining.
not that i'm a saint, i've been on both sides n hv been a bad friend. while everyone experience things differently, i know friendship heartbreaks are the worse but sometimes it's for the best
CONTEXT (that nobody asked fr):
growing up i always needed to follow smn around, even if it meant starving myself during recess. as i got older i was forced into situations where i had to be alone and i always felt horrible bcs i'll pity myself for not being fun enough to make more friends, or not having a better personality. HOWEVER THESE WERE ALL WRONG❌
🌻WHERE TO START:
Start a journal. it was a simple journal bcs journaling was never useful whenever i just note down everything that happened in the day. i made sure my journal included (1 gd thing abt tdy/ 1 goal for tmr/checkbox updates for my overall goals for the year)
Journaling helped me pick out my insecurities & figure out what abt it i could change, and if i couldn't, what was so wrong about them? who told me having a ___ was bad? what about the advantages that ___ gives me, that those who dont hv them dont have?
🦦it'll take time... but You Can Do It okk:
Slowly, i began to appreciate the little things in life, taking pictures of pretty aesthetic places/places with memories I want to keep
eventually i lovee my own company. hanging out with my current friends is always fulfilling, fun, crazy and hilarious. whereas being with myself is peaceful, free and relaxing. i think it's a good balance to stay sane as an introvert⛄️
