BIRTHDAY IDEA💡: THE WORLD’S MOST ABSURD RESTAURANT

🎂 For my birthday, I told my boyfriend I wanted to go for an omakase dining experience, on the condition of having a wackiest multi-sensory, multi-verse omakase dining experience. ABSURDITIES took us on a six-course meal, with every dish served in a different themed room, or "world", if you will. I previously attended the ANDSOFORTH Around the World in 80 Days dining experience and was stoked that I was gonna experience another anti-fine dining dinner! 🍴

🌍 Nestled along the bustling streets of Jalan Besar, ABSURDITIES is located behind the door of a minimalist-chic cafe by day (shan't spoil the surprise). It was where our journey started and took everything we knew about dining and hurled it out of the window. Each world had an anchor (a host) who will explain their story of how they ended up there and served us food and drinks along with the story behind the course! 📚 We were asked to wear comfy clothes because we would be traveling through spaces that required us to climb and crawl. 🧗‍♀️

🍹A wine and cocktail pairing option can be purchased at the start of dinner. Since it was my birthday and my boyfriend wanted to get me tipsy, he got the cocktail pairing option for me for 4 courses (~ top up $88 excl. GST) 😵‍💫 This was on top of the 2 alcoholic drinks that came with our ticket. Boy oh boy, needless to say I was stuffed and buzzed by the end of our experience. 😮‍💨

🦓 For each time slot, there are only a max of 8 people. The way the restaurant works is that you go to a different world for each course and the ‘door’ you use to enter other worlds is unexpected! Do wear comfy shoes and no short skirts or long dresses that would get stuck.

🎟️ After each room, we were given trading cards that lists the name and ingredients of the dish or drinks we had. Keeping these cards till the end is crucial for completing the puzzle! 🧩

☕️ First world: The Guardian

Looked like bubble tea in a pretty ceramic bowl. The anchor came round to pour a dark broth into our bowl.

🪴 Dish: Garden in a Bowl (loved the umami flavour)

🍹 Drink: Garden Sun Wine (herbal rum-based drink) (1st course comes with alcoholic/ non-alcoholic drink)

🌳 Second world: The Tree of Old

Finding the second room in the dark mirrored corridor was a bit difficult. The room was stunning and occupied by a huge tree with hanging roots and vines!

🍔 Dish: Burger and Ash (the fries were really good)

🍸 Drink: Cola Not Cola (citrus vodka-based drink) (additional top-up 💵)

🧞‍♀️Third world: A Moroccan Tent

🐠 Dish: Smoke Cod Tajine (cod with pomegranate ketchup) - best dish IMO and this is where they surprised me with a birthday candle and a song! 🕯️

🍹Drink: Tamarind Be Upon You (tamarind-pineapple gin-based drink) (additional top- up 💵)

🥧 Fourth world: Killer Pot Pie (received a funny birthday gift from the anchor in this world 😆)

🥧 Dish: Mama’s Famous Chicken Pot Pie (roasted chicken with corn milk) - love the vintage vibe in this world and this dish was delicious!

🍹 Drink: Death in the Afternoon (lychee-pear absinthe - STRONG) (additional top-up 💵)

🫕 Fifth world: The Wizard Room

🍣 Dish: Mortar Purple Squid Risotto (squid and uni) - i was already so full by the time we got to this room!

🍸 Drink: Umami Bomb (additional top-up 💵)

🧑‍✈️ Sixth world: Absurdities Airlines

🍮 Dish: First Class Gold Leaf Jelly Telephone - couldn’t finish my course on this private jet 🥲

🥂 Drink: Prosecco (Last course comes with alcoholic/ non-alcoholic drink)

❗️They do have singles mixer! So don't fret if you don't have a partner to go along with you. I joined their giveaway on Instagram and let my single friend attend ABSURDITIES by himself for the singles mixer and he enjoyed himself! 🧏🏻‍♂️

🏷️ Price: ~$380 (2 pax, including booking fee and GST)

🕰️ Duration: 120 minutes (guests are required to arrive 15min before their booked time slot)

⏲️ Timing: Every Thur-Sat. First time slot starts at 6.30pm and last time slot is at 9pm. Time slots run every half hour.
