Something I initially overlooked at the start of my fitness journey: The importance of rest, recovery, stretching, and mobility work.
Although I've been on this continuous journey for nearly a decade, it's only been in the past 2-3 that l've truly begun to prioritize mobility and longevity.
The impact of heavy lifting without sufficient focus on recovery has become noticeable. My joints are achy, and my lower back pain flares up on occasion (typically after heavy squats and deadlifts) 👵🏼😭
For anyone engaging in heavy lifting- don't underestimate the importance of mobility! Take the extra 5-10 minutes at the beginning and end of your workouts to properly warm up or stretch dynamic at the beginning, static at the end) It will make a huge difference long term 💕
