went on a trip with just my mum, brother and me to spain in june this year! it was the first time we travelled together (just the 3 of us) and ofc there were ups and downs along the way that we can laugh about now 🫢 we went to different parts within 10 days and i wanted to share some photospots of the beautiful places we got to see!

we touched down in barcelona first and i loved the architecture of the city natural landscapes that were further out from the main area 🗺️ fortunately, we didn’t face any issues here with the help of our local guide who kindly brought us around and helped us communicate with the locals.

📍 day 1 - park güell, casa milà, casa battló

we did a lot of walking (not exaggerating… our legs were gone by the end of the day) around these landmarks created by a famous spanish architect/designer called antoni gaudí. there were many tourists and locals admiring his works, which are sooo unique and interesting! there are lots of elements inspired by architecture, nature and religion and i really appreciated having the free audio guide with us as we walked through to explain the history of the buildings and rooms. unfortunately, we were super tired out by the time we got to casa battló and it was bit crowded so we kind of breezed through it 😮‍💨

📍 day 2 - la sagrada família, montjuic, montserrat

my favourite landmark was definitely la sagrada família! just seeing it from afar was breathtaking and its really like nothing i’ve ever seen before. can’t believe its not completed yet and is still in construction. there are lots of things to admire up close with the different styles (old and new) and the inside of the cathedral is so tall and colourful! we didn’t to go to the top because its a paid entrance but i read that the view from the higher floors are really nice too.

montserrat wasn’t initially part of our itinerary but i thought my mum would love the mountain scenery and gondola ride (which she did ofc) and it was so worth the drive out of the city. we also took the second gondola up to the higher point of the mountain and it was very windy at the top. the views were amazing and it was a nice break from the crowds and cityscape! we considered trekking down but weren’t prepared for it so we ended up catching the second last gondola back down lol

personally, i really enjoyed the short time in barcelona! from there, we took a high speed train to cordoba to continue our tour of spain - so stay tuned for the next part woohoo
