My least favorite thing(s) about my job

I love my job very much, even tho I’m still learning the ropes! While making coffee and other drinks or even ✨seasonal✨ or ✨specialty✨ drinks is fun, there are still some things I don’t like about it. Lets talk about it:

1. I can’t get my nails done 😩 no polish, no shellac, no acrylics. This one bothers me the most as my cuticles are really dry and my nails break off, especially with how much I need to wash my hands throughout the day. I understand why we can’t have polish as it’s a flake risk, nobody wants your nail polish in their drink! 🤢

However, acrylics and shellac are long lasting, and I’m desperate for a mani, but I don’t want to risk my employment or anything. On top of that, I have a nasty habit of picking at my nails, I usually paint them or get mani’s to stop the nervous habit, damaged nails are so unaesthetic :(

2. Having to wear a company hat! It makes my forehead so itchy and limits what I can do with my hair 😭. I usually stick it in 2 frenchies or dutchies (braids) and call them my barista braids.

3. Having to wear the company shirt instead of my own shirts. The material is bad quality and if you sweat at all it just sticks to the material. You have to wash it everyday. Luckily it’s not as bad as the material the works shirts were made of at the baseball field I worked at.

Overall tho, I do enjoy my job and want to stick with it for at least a year before moving on. These minor things aside, being a barista is an 8/10 experience.
