don't cause your interviewer to see red flags—avoid these type of responses when answering common interview questions, and start saying these instead:

✖️"My boss is the reason that I'm leaving my current job..."✖️

- Blaming or talking poorly about your boss is a red flag—even if it's the truth! Interviewers won't be able to hear all sides of the story, so they don't know what to believe. So, mentioning this could make it seem like YOU'RE the one who is hard to work / get along with.

INSTEAD...talk about how you're looking for a role and team that aligns more with your professional goals

✖️"What does your company do again?"✖️

- This makes you seem unprepared! Interviewers expect you to put at least effort or level of preparation in to impress them

INSTEAD...mention the research you did about the company and ask pointed questions or clarifications about what you read

✖️"How soon can I get promoted?"✖️

- We're all thinking it! BUT, it likely won't come off as "dedicated" if you're immediately thinking about the next raise or promotion

INSTEAD...ask about the opportunities for growth and development in the role

✖️ "My greatest weakness is that I'm a perfectionist"✖️

- This is a cliche answer—it's too commonly used, which makes interviewers think that it's not a real answer!

INSTEAD...pick a real (but not detrimental) weakness and describe how you've taken steps to work on it
