HOW TO GET STARTED - YOGA FOR BEGINNERS ⚡️
When I started yoga I read that to access the benefits of it spiritually & physically you needed to practice it everyday. So I decided to embark on a journey.. practice yoga everyday 1 year 👀 — now the only way I knew I would stick with it was if I came up with a plan that made it sustainable for me! That meant classes on YouTube, so I could add them into my day no matter what! 📲
As a beginner yogi🧘🏼♀️ (& someone who had a poor relationship with exercise) I implemented a ton of short stretchy flows to help stay consistent & not dread moving my body.
This looked like ⬇️
🗓 Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun
• 30-40 minute slow stretchy yoga class
🗓Tue/Thurs/Sat
• 20-30 minute Strong Yoga Class
KEY TAKE AWAYS!🔑
• By keeping my classes short I was easily able to fit it into my daily routine ⌛️ + I was able to build up to actually WANTING to take longer classes🤩
• By using an “every-other day” technique for those stronger classes I didn’t resent the exercise/movement🙌🏼
• The stretchy flows helped me in the strong flows because I could get into the poses much easier when my body wasn’t so tight 🏋🏼♀️
From my experience, now 3 years later.. I don’t think you HAVE to be doing yoga every single day to see the benefits. If everyday is intimidating try 3-5 times a week instead. BUT, this commitment to my practice was pivotal for me. & I’d still recommend embarking on this journey if you feel called to challenge your discipline & build more self trust & confidence when you stick with a long term goal!🙌🏼
