so you’ve probably booked a space and are wondering how are you going to put together your booth 🎪 preparing for a pop up booth can be very exciting yet daunting at the same time especially if you’re a first time boother 😬 i can still remember my first pop up booth experience, it definitely took a lot of time and effort to prepare for but i still felt uncertain and anxious no matter how much i’ve prepared… 😵💫 there are certainly things to look out for to make your boothing experience a lot more smooth sailing and pleasant~ having boothed thrice, im here to share some tips with you!
1. plan the layout 📝
- how big would the space be? how many products would you be displaying? will there be shelves at the back for you too?
- visualise draw the rough arrangement out on a paper
- try setting it up on a table to see if everything fits
2. get display stands/ organisation containers 🗂
- for stickers, aryclic display stands are good because it makes use of the vertical space and it is easier for customers to view
- consider wooden display stands for standalone item e.g. business card/ foam board
- c&c grids and clips are good too
- measure your products and see if they can fit in the stands? can the stands and containers fit on the table?
3. display your business card 🪪
- allows customers to find you and reach out to you online even after the booth is over
- promotes your brand
- you can include one card in every order or just place it on the table for anyone to take
4. props props props 🎈
- makes your booth extra cute and fun
- e.g. mini chair/ figurines/ coasters or other deco
- if your booth falls on certain occasions e.g. christmas, decorate your booth with cotton balls as fake snow/ santa hats/ mini present boxes/ fairy lights
5. prepare payment method 💰
- if you’re collecting $$ via online payment, print out the qr codes to your paynow/ paylah account
- double check that the qr codes work
- if you’re only accepting cash, its good to make a note so customers are aware
6. prepare price labels 🎟
- helps ease your workload as you dont have to repeat yourself & you won’t get confused with the prices of other products
- makes sales tracking and product inventory clearer
- makes it easier for customers to shop and decide what they would like to spend on
- can also include discounts to attract customers
7. prepare foam boards 🧸
- to display your brand name/ character/ mascot (+++ cuteness!)
- should be of adequate size so customers can recognise your brand at one glance
8. brainstorm packaging 🛍
- packaging should be quick and easy, you wouldn’t want your customers to wait very long
- consider a simple brown bag and your brand’s sticker/ chop/ tape
- including a thank you card would be sweet too
9. (optional) prepare table cloth🎗
- some booth venues do not have table colour that is of your brand’s aesthetic so feel free to purchase your own!
10. have special discounts/ products and give freebies 🎁
- booth exclusive discounts (e.g. buy 2 free 1, buy 3 for $10 etc) can attract traffic and boost sales
- booth exclusive products (e.g. mystery bags) are great too
- everyone loves freebies! it helps your customers to remember you and it shows that you value them + it makes them want to purchase something if your freebie is really special
i’m definitely not an expert and i’ve got things to improve on as well but i do hope that these tips can help organise your thoughts a bit more ~ all the best for your booth and most importantly, have fun and take in the experience!! interact with your customers and just have a good time 🎉 after all, a pop up booth is a way to promote and market your booth too so please dont get too caught up with the sales progress! 💘
