grandmother’s recipe in seoul: cheap and good!!

i recently visited halmeoni’s (grandmother’s) recipe, a quaint little restaurant hidden in an alley right next to seoul forest! they’ve been around for quite a while but recently renovated their restaurant if i’m not wrong. this restaurant was packed with locals (good sign!!) and the food was just so good and SO affordable!

🍎queue time

actually there wasn’t much of a queue when i went around 1pm on a weekday - there was only one table waiting in queue before us and we were seated within 15-20minutes. it’s a small shop with a very homely atmosphere that maybe sits 30-40pax max so be ready to queue especially if you go during peak hour!

🍎what i ordered

i wanted to try something new so i got the 강경젓갈비빔밥 ganggyeong jeotgal bibimbap for 12,000won (12.30sgd)- i think this translates to some sort of fermented seafood bibimbap! i know this may not be for everyone but i LOVED IT! the fermented seafood tasted like some sort of fish roe and the saltiness and spiciness of it mixed in with the rice and slightly bitter veg was so good and balanced it all out! sometimes i still think about this HAHA definitely have to go back when i next go to seoul!

🍎weekday value sets

if you go on weekdays, they have special value sets that cost about 8000won ($8.20sgd) - and these come with all the rice, side dishes and a meat or mushrooms! they don’t compromise on the quality either - the gochujang bulgogi was so good and for $8!!!!! what a steal!!!

honestly 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ i had a fantastic meal here and it’s so value for money - you definitely have to drop by this place if you have the chance! it’s also near to seoul forest and to kwangya (sm entertainment’s shop) so there’s plenty to do in the area too!
