READ this before ur exchange!! (language Ed.)

hello guys!! I'm back with another set of tips for exchange!! 👋 For myself, I did not think of learning some basic phrases in German and Italian before I headed for my exchange and I regret it so badly!! Not that we can't converse in English there but it would be really fun if we could understand some basic phrases there!! 👇

now that we are back, we are finally picking up the language ahhah! 🥳🤭My bf German and myself Italian on Duolingo! As I'm also taking Italian classes in sch I can make a fairer evaluation on whether this app actually helps!!

🤔so what's Duolingo?🤔

it's a mobile app that helps you to pick up languages! in the app you can expect questions gamified, and mechanisms such as streaks (hahaha alil like Snapchat hor), leaderboard, challenges to keep you motivated and gg!!

🤗Do I recommend Duolingo?🤗

Well, I do! and here's why!

♥️the games element made learning really fun and easier as compared to scouring over the internet yourself. with just 5 mins a day, you find yourself slowly picking up!

♥️ It's FREE!!!! for all the basic stuff! no harm trying out!

♥️ when it comes to studying the language myself, sometimes I can lazy and don't practice daily! however with this app, I'm so committed to it and I'm already on my 149 day streak today hahaha!!! be prepared of Duolingo sending some rly funny "threats" on ur email, app notification to get you going!!

👀 a tip: if you're unsure of the answer, you can click on the question for it to give u clues!!

⚠️however, note that whatever they teach you can sometimes differ a lil from culture norm! for example, Duolingo taught me to say "salve" as hello but did not tell me that it's a more formal way and "ciao" would suffice in most casual contexts! so be sure to do a small research on the common phrases used there!!

Overall, if you're just heading somewhere for an exchange/trip, I will totally recommend Duolingo!! however, if you're planning to pick up the language, I will still recommend yourself gg for classes just because it's faster to pick up a language when u have an instructor to correct your mistakes!!
