My Amsterdam Itinerary

I was nearby for my school's summer programme so my friends and I decided to take the train to Amsterdam. Here are some of the things we did + tips if you're going!

📍Zaanse Schans

We saw the iconic windmills and many pairs of clogs. We also saw ducks, sheep, and cows. Free cheese tasting available too!

📍Amsterdam Centraal

✨ Van Gogh Museum (book online, €11/pax for students, including international students)

✨ Canal Cruise (booked on Viator, €21.95/pax): A guide shared some history about the area while we had a can of beer

🍴 Vlaams Friteshuis Vleminckx

The best fries I've had, we literally went back the next day to get more. Recommend the truffle mayo and special mix curry ketchup

🍴 Van Stapele Koekmakerij

Amazing if you love soft cookies, fresh out the oven with almost brownie-liks texture and melty chocolate in the middle 😩

💡 Miscellaneous tips:

⚠️ Coffeeshops in Amsterdam sell cannabis. Search for cafes if you're looking for coffee.

⚠️ As a popular tourist destination and a cycling city, it is very crowded, so be careful when walking/crossing.

🌤 Summer is cold (11-25⁰C), cloudy and windy. Be prepared to be wearing pants and jacket most of the trip. (but from our experience, Zaanse Schans was warmer - ok to wear sleeveless/shorts)

🥖 Albert Heijn most popular grocery store chain. Those that have a little "to go" are upcharged and more expensive than the ones without.
