Korea Food Recommends (not the usual)

Tired of always seeing the same recommendations of like those trending/ famous foods. These are some that I found / chance upon with good reviews for the locals itself ( be it on IG / naver)

📍Restaurant: Chonnom

💭 Thoughts: Saw it on some Taiwan Korean influencer video, and it really is only locals comes here. There wasn’t any foreigner and there is a wait list where u have to write your Korean name down with pax. Wait for them to call ur name 🤣 ( tip if no Korean name choose smt easy to call n easy for u to recognise)

This is a bbq restaurant where they do the bbq for u so u don’t rlly smell like bbq after walking out of the restaurant. And the specialty is the cheese that u eat with the beef, generally so good!

🤔Would go again?

If im around the area, yes. I feel like kbbq can’t go wrong.

📍Restaurant: Choi dinning

💭 Thoughts: very simple Japanese Korea fusion kind of food. Is one of those outlet, like they have a few branches. Reasonable price point. Food is definitely good too. The pasta is really good, the kimbap/sushi is huge and really nice n unique. Is not smt u can find in SG.

If you have it in the area and am really hungry why not. It was not crowded when we went.

📍Restaurant: Oreno Katsu

💭 Thoughts: I think they have a few outlets also? Kinda like where locals for for simple meals. There was a few Korean family there when we went. We were really hungry and we chance upon it so we just give it a try and it was super good. But the portion is huge like I really couldn’t finish. And for the price point super worth. If you can eat this is damn worth for u

📍Restaurant: Egg Gung Haenggungdong

💭 Thoughts: one of those random finds as well. Just scroll thru naver to find any food that looks good otw to the hwaseong fortress from suwon starfield, and found this. When we arrived, it was packed w locals and there were locals in queue too.

But it moved quite fast although it’s a small place.

If you love cream pasta n egg this is for you. I love it personally.

📍Restaurant: peullop (plop)

💭 Thoughts: found this place last time as it was right infront of my airbnb, but didn’t get to try. Went Korea again n was determined to try it. AND IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. If you love cheese, bake pasta, pizza, please try !! The sauce they give to pair w the food is so good.

🤔Would go again? Depends if I’m feeling for some pizza anot.

📍Restaurant: ppasam

💭 Thoughts: PLEASE TRY. It’s sinful with lots of butter but it’s so fragrant. They only sell pork here tho, and as usual only locals are here. U need to put ur name n number on the paper of waitlist.

📍Restaurant: Boseung Hoegwan

💭 Thoughts: so good for a cold day, feels very hearty as well. Got the warm the soul kinda vibes.

Long queue tho, maybe cos it was raining and it was really cold so a lot ppl came to eat here.

Spicy lover, try their chicken feet, it’s boneless but so good. Too spicy for me we couldn’t finished. 🤣

These are just some food that I feel it’s rather good and no one talked about it yet. I love finding new food to eat when I go back Seoul, esp food that my parents would eat(cos they complain Korea food everything is red) and some of these food is your not very local Korean food, as I realise these few years there have been a rise in fusion food and cafe style foods.
