Why I did colonoscopy at 26 🫨

Colonoscopy is a procedure in which doctor uses a scope to look inside your rectum / colon. This can show if you’ve any abnormalities going on inside your colon! 🚽

If you’ve been here with me on this space for awhile, you would have known that I recently went through a hemorrhoid surgery. During this surgery, my doc also did a half colon scope for me and found one polyp inside my lower colon. She removed it and sent it for biopsy and thank god it was nothing serious of developing into cancer. However she had concerns about my upper colon which she’s not able to do the scope on since I haven’t done any preparation. Yes need to prepare 3 days before we can do the full colonoscopy! I’ll be talking about that in my next post cos the post might get too long 😂

So we arranged another date to do the full colonoscopy and the results came back right after my surgery. It was clear and there was no further polyps found in my upper colon, so seriously thank god!

1️⃣ Change in bowel habits

2️⃣ Abdominal pain

3️⃣ Bloating

If you’ve signs of abnormality from your bowel movement, it’s good to go for colonoscopy checkup!

🧻 DOES IT HURT? 🧻

Nope, apparently they will put you to sleep and you can’t feel anything during the process. My dad went for it once too and he told me it hurts very bad the day after. But for me it doesn’t hurt at all, I even forgot that I did my colonoscopy. So it’s subjective and I think doctor and nurses skills also play a big part too!! So choose your doc wisely 😂
