Recently went through a colonoscopy so this is for friends who are going through it and feeling nervous! 3 days before my colonoscopy i ensured i ate a low fibre diet. It can be difficult so here’s what i ate! (This is not medical advice, sharing my experience)

D-1:

Breakfast: Tuna sandwich (using plain white bread) + 1 bottle of clear apple juice (no aloe bits, no cloudiness)

Lunch: Yong Tau Foo (only selected toufu, eggs, seafood) + chicken macaroni soup

Dinner: Yakiniku Like BBQ (ordered their chicken & white rice. Gave their salad a miss + Genki Sushi (tamago/ebi sushi, plain udon)

D-2:

Breakfast: Tuna sandwich + 1 bottle clear apple

juice

Lunch: skinless chicken rice, without the chilli

Dinner: slice fish soup with tofu, without all veges. No milk in soup

For snacks i ate mostly sugar crackers.

D-3:

Breakfast: Ya kun 2 soft boiled eggs & Iced Teh O

Lunch: white beehoon with eggs

Dinner: salmon & eggs on white rice

No food from 6pm onwards, & my bowel prep started at 7pm!! I only managed to drink ~3.5L out of 4L but i observed i was already passing clear stools which was a good sign.

Tips to make your bowel prep much more bearable:

1. Prepare your prep in advance and keep it chilled in the fridge

2. Mix prep with 100 plus/ 100 plus zero!!! i found this the best after trying it with pocari sweat & pink dolphin. The taste will be masked well

3. Drink with a straw

4. Drink slowly instead of chugging it all down. I drank mine at a slower pace every of 15 mins.

the laxatives only took effect after abt 2.5 hours.. After which the toilet rounds began, approx 15-20times!! 😖 use a bidget spray instead of dry toilet paper to wash your bum!

In the morning before procedure - Take only small sips of water. An IV needle will be inserted for your sedation.

I was sedated and only woke up slight towards the end of the scope and could see what was going on, but there was no pain and it wasn’t very uncomfortable.

Overall, it was quick and easy so please dont delay if you need to do one! Let me know if this helps you for your procedure! 😉
