If you’re in your fitness journey and looking for some yummy alcoholic drinks that won’t completely side track your macros (especially if you’re on a fat/weightloss journey); this post is for you!
Now, alcohol, regardless of the form that it comes in is NOT a beneficial tool for your progress as it can slow down metabolic function, making fat loss more difficult. There really is NO BENEFIT to drinking, which is why it’s important to drink in moderation, and be very mindful about how much you’re consuming each week.
That being said, I think it’s important to live a balanced lifestyle. If you are looking to have a drink every now and then, you might as well try to make it worthwhile by choosing options that are lower in cals and sugar.
1. Diet rum and Coke
This one goes hand-in-hand with vodka soda’s, or vodka soda crans! These are probably the lowest calorie options you will get aside from taking a shot. They aren’t the most flavorful, but they get the job done.
2. Skinny blended margarita
Did you know that you can ask for almost any cocktail “skinny”, and they just won’t add the sugar? You can also ask for it half sweet as well;). Skinny blended margaritas are a favourite of mine!
3. Old-fashioned
This one is an acquired taste for sure. If you like strong, bourbon, smoky, realness, you’ll like old fashioned’s. Typically they are made with 2 ounces of bourbon, some orange garnishes, and very little simple syrup.
4. Espresso martinis
Almost any kind of martini is going to be lower in calories, because they are very strong! Most espresso martinis won’t have more than a 1/2 ounce of simple syrup…but again, with the Kahlúa you almost don’t need any simple syrup at all!
5. Vodka martini with grapefruit juice
You can get almost any kind of juice in there if grapefruit is not your first pick! Typically juices are going to be less calories than any simple syrup or sweetener per ounce. You can also add a garnish, like a lime, or lemon twist to spice it up a bit more!
