Go or no go? — Entier French Dining, Kuala Lumpur

First Impressions

Entier is located at Level 41 of Alila Bangsar, definitely at a high enough level to call it "atas". Colours are pleasing to me, and I entered in anticipation of being well-fed by them.

Experience

The starters were bang on. I especially liked the Prawn and Mango. It came with a little bottle of Vadouvan oil (not pictured) and you're meant to add a few drops to the dish to enhance it. The balance of textures and flavours made this a thoroughly fun and enjoyable dish. The Crab and Cauliflower was good too, though edged out by the textural superiority of the former. For mains, the cook of the beef was done really well. Unfortunately, the same could not be said of the duck, which had thick layers of fat that were not properly rendered down. The meat itself was also not as tender as other duck confits I've had. Bit of a disappointment this one.

This is how we ended up with 4 desserts—2 of them were part of the 3-course set lunch, we made an extra order of chocolate soufflé, and they served us this mousse cake cos it was my birthday a week back. The chocolate soufflé was made using 70% single origin chocolate. I liked that it's not too sweet, but found the soufflé itself too "cakey".

Standout Dish: starter | Prawn and Mango

Verdict: it's a go for me for the value since I live in Singapore. I am well aware of the strength of SGD against MYR, and I might have concluded a little differently if I were working in Malaysia.
